We are reveling in the infinite number of coincidences that brought us together at this moment in human history. That we have found each other amidst all the possible situations allotted to us on this earth is nothing short of a miracle. Something within us pulled us together in order to share this incredible journey of deliberate and conscious evolution and creation.
We all have things we wish to accomplish in life – it is our instinct to always be reaching for our next evolution. Increasingly in our society, goal setting has become a purely mental exercise sometimes only involving the power of mind over matter. While this has power in itself, it is not the full equation. Traditional goal setting systems often leave us feeling tired and frustrated when true and lasting change does not occur.
To enable true change and evolution, we must be willing to transform – individually, creatively, and soulfully. But how do we do this? It is a process of transmutation, from lead into gold. We are seeking to consciously, willingly, and constantly transform ourselves, becoming more and more living proof of the radiant being that we were meant to be. From this place of power, we set intentions and we transform to become the being that can embody the intention we have set. This is goal setting at its finest, truest, most authentic level.
This book was created because I desired a practical and authentic guided process to reveal and realize my intentions! I searched for something to no avail. While I found many systems designed to reach goals, they were all based on a mental process! I knew intuitively and from experience that the mind does not always know what is best for us. I knew I needed a more spiritual and authentic approach.
As a yoga instructor, and long time practitioner, everything in me tells me that a spiritual practice is incomplete unless it becomes embodied. What we learn and think must circulate in our physical body in order for the practice to be whole.
By bridging my spiritual practice (mental, physical, spiritual, creative, and emotional) and my yoga practice, Mining the Mandala was born. A fully embodied journey to reveling and realizing your year of intentions! The journey begins.
At the end of the year long Mandala, we expect to be different, transformed, from the moment that we stepped into the Mandala. Each time we come together to practice, whether it be at a seasonal festival or at the New or Full Moon, we expect transformation. The “you” at the beginning of the practice will in some way become a different and more evolved “you” by the end of the practice.
I am Mira. I am a teacher and a student of Life. I spent my early adult years being formally educated at New York University where I graduated with a degree in fine arts. Eventually, I also earned a teaching credential. Several years later, my journey led me towards a spiritual awakening where I met my yoga teacher, Shiva Rea. A former dancer, I was instantly enamored the embodied practice of yoga and decided to become a certified yoga teacher at the 500 Hour Level. I have also studied spiritual traditions from many different cultures and am engaging in High Priestess training.
Through these wisdom teachings, I have come to understand that life is informed by the seasons, by the natural cycles of the planet, and the power times of the universe. When we align ourselves with these times and these powers, we become amazing creators of our worlds and continuously receive opportunities to tap into the power of who we were always meant to be.
In the process of creating my own spiritual practice to become one that was embodied and in perfect harmony with nature, I came across a challenge. I was unable to find any guidebook, method, or teacher that had put together a way to use the natural cycles and the body to create and fulfill intentions that lead us to the evolution of our greatest selves. I wanted to practice with the seasons and with the lunar cycles, but I seemed to always miss an important date—Darn! I missed Spring Equinox! Darn! I missed the New Moon! I also wanted a yoga guide that would tell me what practices would be potent agents of transformation for all the important dates of the year. I wanted to know how to get from the creation of my intentions to the actualization of these intentions. I needed a step-by-step guide. I couldn’t find anything that would link everything for me into one package. So, I created it for myself. Once it was done, I was sure that if it could help me, it could help others. I believe that this work will heal many souls in crisis as well as those already living fantastic lives to continue that momentum and reach even higher heights.
I do not know my vision for 2012 yet, will I still benefit from this process?
Of course! Mining the Mandala is designed to help those who do not yet know their vision to find their vision and to help those who do know their vision, to deepen and make tangible their vision.
The year is well underway, is it too late to start this process?
Your timing is perfect! Your practice will begin officially on the next new moon.
I already do not have enough time, how can I add one more thing?
This program is designed to create more time and more energy for you to have at your disposal.
What if I prefer to go with the flow rather then schedule my time and thereby possibly miss out on something?
If this works for you, then by all means continue on that path. However, if you repeatedly notice that your dreams are not being accomplished with the speed or consistency that you like, then you are in the right place. Setting a chart, a path, or even a destination, does not mean being without spontaneity. Rather, it allows you to become more of the person you were meant to be in grounded and positive energy. It creates a container to which spontaneity has a place and purpose.
Is working with nature a religion? Do I have to give up my beliefs to take part in this?
Any spiritual practice can become a religion, but a spiritual practice is not necessarily a religion. My personal practice and my teachings are spiritual practices. I do not follow any one religion and so do not offer any teachings as a religion. The only two foundation pieces to this journey is the desire to align yourself with nature and the natural processes and that the physical body is an integral part of a spiritual practice. If these two foundation pieces are acceptable to you, then there’s no reason to give up any of your spiritual beliefs.
